4th Edition
We are now less than a month away from the release of 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons. The big event, occurring June 6th of 2008, was announced last year in August at Gen Con Indy. The decision to move forward has generated much talk among fans of the game, with most being either excited about the change, or upset about it.
I myself fall into the prior camp, partially because I realize that change is, in fact, a true constant in life, but also because I’m optimistic that the designers have done their jobs, and the game will ultimately be more fun to play.
What I’m looking for from 4th edition is simplicity. By simplicity, I don’t mean that I want a game that’s dumbed-down; I mean I want rules that are easy to understand and easy to adjudicate. I’m looking for the tools that will enable me to spend more time telling a story and fleshing out characters than creating monsters and designing traps. Hopefully, this can be accomplished by removing some of the overhead in adventure design that existed in previous editions, but only time will tell.
Forums
The forums have been updated to the latest version of Fireboard and its most recent patches. This was necessary to fix a few annoying problems with the Quick Reply functionality.

Repurposed
The Joomla! framework originally created for the Haldane website has been repurposed to serve as the CMS (content management system) for the new SwordFin Games portal website. The content I have created for Haldane has been rolled into SwordFin Games Online as a sub-site. For now, I have blocked access to this potion of the site, as it still needs work.
