Hand of the Wychlaran
The adventure, which is set in Rashemen, is finished. Titled “Hand of the Wychlaran”, it is 1st level and about ten encounters long—which is too long for a four-hour event. Some of the encounters are optional, but I need to run a party through it to get a feel where I can trim back a bit.
Gen Con Indy 2008
Well, I'm back from Gen Con and I wanted to make a post and say what an excellent time I had! For me this was the best Gen Con in several years. The release of 4th edition seems to have energized me, and I find myself tremendously looking forward to the next time I'll be able to play.
At the convention, I logged 30+ hours of gaming, and over half of it was playing 4th edition. Switching between the previous edition and the current on a day-to-day basis really gave me the opportunity to compare the systems, and in the end, there's no doubt in my mind that 4E is a more fun game to play and to run (especially to run).
DMing the first part of Keep on the Shadowfell, it was interesting to see the players start to get involved with their character's powers, and by the last night, people were throwing out free actions, minor actions, standard actions, and move actions all in the same round (there were even a couple times that immediate actions were tossed in there as well). All of the actions give the players a lot to do on their turn, which is great, and it looked like they enjoyed it!
