The repeated striking of flint on steel caused an array of sparks that leaped from the stone onto the soaked wrappings of the torch, which sputtered briefly before coming to a bright blaze.
At the end of the passageway ahead, the worked stone tunnel appeared to open into a larger chamber. Surely this had to be the room in which the Dark Priest’s treasure had been tucked away centuries ago? As if in answer, the rattling of bone on bone filled the hallway, and a skeleton clad in rusted armor appeared from the darkness. Hefting its sword in both hands, it proceeded down the passage with stoic resolve...

Welcome to the fantasy world of Haldane. The Haldane Campaign Setting, or HCS for short, is a personally created role-playing supplement designed for use with version 4.0 of the Dungeon & Dragons® game and is intended to introduce both players and Dungeon Masters to the realm of Haldane.
Located on the sphere of Erdon, Haldane is a sizable continent, spanning over two thousand miles between its furthest lands. In between this distance lie towering mountains, rolling hills, sandy deserts, and many other types of terrain. In addition to varied terrain, the people of Haldane differ greatly as well. Humans, elves, dwarves, and many more races dwell in the lands, each with their own distinct cultures.
While the HCS includes additions and clarifications to the Dungeon & Dragons® 4th edition ruleset, it is the aforementioned diversity of lands and people that make Haldane a true campaign setting. Like all Dungeon & Dragons® supplements, the HCS is meant to be a guide. The information it contains is designed to serve as a starting point for a campaign. It is up to the players and the Dungeon Master to decide how much of the included material is suitable for use in their game.
